About Us

The International Institute for Research and Training in Ophthalmology Foundation, IRFO, is a private non-profitable organization, which has been launched, with the aim to promote and develop research and training in Ophthalmology, in both the scientific and clinical domain. Scientific research is also collaborates with national ophthalmologic institutions, such as the Veneto Eye Bank Foundation and the University "Magna Graecia" of Catanzaro, and international organizations, including Louisiana Ste University Eye Center, the Hearth of England NHS Trust and Melbourne Cernter for Eye Research. The research is also carried out with the cooperation and support of private industry involved in the translation of scientific breakthroughs in terms of clinical application.

Our proposal is the collaboration with national ophthalmic institutions, such as the Veneto Eye Bank Foundation and the University "Magna Graecia" of Catanzaro, as well as international organizations, including Louisiana Ste University Eye Centre, NHS (National Health Service) of England and Melbourne Centre for Eye Research. Our researches are also conducted with the cooperation and support of the private industry, involved in the innovation and delivery of scientific and clinical breakthroughs relevant to the ophthalmic clinical practice.

The Foundation aims to collaborate and liaise with researchers both in Italy and abroad, to further enhance the quality of its projects and researches, and for the exploration and development of diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical techniques vital for the delivery of optimal clinical care in ophthalmology. 

 In pursuing its objectives, the Foundation sets itself the following objectives:

  - carry out studies and researches in clinical and scientific areas of interests relevant to the field of ophthalmology.  

 - collaborate with institutions and medical-scientific, cultural and educational enterprises, in Italy and abroad, to facilitate the work and assist in our studies and researches and promote and participate in meetings, conferences and seminars with the institutions concerned.

 - set up awards, scholarships and research contracts, with the partnership of organizations, in Italy and abroad, willing to support our work, and promote the development of medical scientific research in the field of ophthalmology.

 - establish contracts and agreements, with the private and public sectors, to achieve and accomplish our goals and missions
